Margaret joins our copywriting team

We’re pleased to officially welcome Margaret Lankester to our copywriting team. Having freelanced with us for some time, she has been one of our unsung heroes, beavering away in the background, and is one of the key players in making sure our written communication is spot on.

With a specialism in editing and a keen eye for detail, Margaret comes with a wealth of experience in proofing and copywriting and is a confessed “word nerd” and “grammar geek”. Her words, not ours, we might add.

Margaret has enjoyed numerous communications roles spanning many years. Her career first blossomed in the flower power music industry of the swinging ’60s. She then went from pop to punctuation, playing an essential role in supporting London agencies, private clients and companies of all sizes across the globe – including Australia and America, as well as back at home in the UK.

Margaret’s love for the English language started at school, and she has always been a voracious reader. She is a real stickler for detail and can’t rest until she’s happy something is 100% correct for its intended purpose. Of course, she knows the business well enough to recognise when to bend the rules ever so slightly to fit in with the brand tone of voice or to place importance on a specific selling point.

Marketing communications run deep in the family with Margaret’s son and daughter both enjoying successful careers in the design and advertising industry. This means they all keep each other up-to-speed with what’s going on in the ad world.

In an age of text and social media abbreviations and quick-fix copy, Margaret’s passion for the English language is a breath of fresh air and an essential part of what we do.

If you would like to put Margaret to the test simply send over any copy conundrums and we will get back to you with our thoughts.
